Community Service
A large number of students are involved in a range of community service activities at Waldegrave from Years 7-12. We encourage students to take an interest in their local community and to take up the opportunities available to get involved.
We have a long term relationship with Sandown Court, our local sheltered housing for older people. Each year all our students take part in Harvest Festival, Christmas and Easter events with and for the residents. Our community prefects visit residents on a weekly basis to sit and chat, share tea and biscuits and play a game of scrabble.
In Year 11 students who volunteer can use this to help them gain the Mayor's Award in recognition of their contribution to the life of the school and willingness to help others.
In Year 12 students are encouraged to choose voluntary service as an enrichment activity. This could include working for a local charity, volunteering at a local primary school, helping out at a youth project or in a care setting for two hours a week.
If you know a local charity or project that would like to offer voluntary service placements please contact Mrs Page by email info@waldegrave.org.uk. We would be delighted to promote your initiative in the school.
