Waldegrave pupil nominated for Diversity Award

By Tamira R, 10SSR

During the May half term, I was incredibly grateful to be nominated as part of the Kingston and Richmond Youth Council entry in the Inclusion and Diversity category for the London Youth Achievement Awards at City Hall in London. Attending the event was a privilege, especially to be surrounded by so many inspiring young people who were making a positive difference in their communities, and hearing their stories was both motivating and humbling.

I was especially honoured for our Inclusion and Diversity entry, the short film, Survivance, to be one of three entries shortlisted from those submitted by young people from across London. Receiving this recognition was a proud and meaningful moment, as it recognised the hard work and passion that went into creating a film that promotes representation, inclusion, and understanding.

This experience has strengthened my confidence and inspired me to continue making a positive impact. I am grateful for the opportunity to bring what I have learned back to school by encouraging inclusivity, supporting student voices through the school Parliament, and inspiring others to use their talents and creativity to contribute to a welcoming and diverse school community. Helping create a place where students can enjoy, achieve and empower.
