Gold medal in Young Coders UK wide competition

Our ever intrepid Year 8s entered the national Young Coders Competition – a UK wide competition for children ages 8 to 13 years old – again this year, creating their own games using Scratch – a free programming language and online community where young people can create their own interactive stories, games and animations.

Last year one of our teams was shortlisted and came third but this year, we are proud to announce that we came top! Well done to Emilia B, 8ESU who won the Young Coders Competition with a commendation from the judges for her very well written code. To have beaten all other entries from across the country is an amazing achievement and we are thrilled for Emilia. She hand drew all the animations for her game and despite all this hard work she nearly didn’t enter!

We are very proud of all the students who wrote their own code and entered the competition with the support of our inspiring Computing teacher, Ms Green.
