2026 is the National Year of Reading, making this year’s World Book Day even more special. At Waldegrave we promote reading through our Book Champions who this year have set reading challenges across the school, shared book reviews and created shortlists of brilliant books to read with their year groups. This World Book Day our Book Champions have helped our English Department run a really popular book swap event for Year 7 and 8 who swapped almost XX books.
Our Book Champions also shared their top reads to inspire pupils across the school to pick up a book. Their lists included classics such as xxx to modern popular novels, x and y.
As ever we also shared our the World Book day tokens offering £1 off a book of choice, these can be used next week in school at our Travelling Book Fair which will take place in the Conference room at break and lunch from Monday 9 – Friday 13 March. You can read more about Travelling Books here.
