KS3 & 4 Careers

At Waldegrave School, we are committed to delivering an ambitious and extensive careers programme, which raises aspirations, unlocks potential, breaks down stereotypes and promotes success for all students. Through this provision, we seek to support our students in gaining the necessary knowledge, skills and experiences to make informed choices about their futures and become both leaders of, and contributors to, the workplaces of the future.

As part of this ambition, all students from Y7 to Y13 will have access to a high quality careers programme, comprising a wide variety of activities and events that will collectively ensure they are ready for both the opportunities and challenges presented by the world of work. This will include:

  • Interactions with further and higher education providers
  • Encounters with employers and employees
  • Experience of the workplace
  • Access to current careers and progression information
  • Personalised and impartial careers guidance
  • Embedded links to careers within the curriculum

This vision aligns closely to our whole school values of Enjoy, Achieve, Empower, as we hope that through the programme, students go on to enjoy their future careers, achieve success in their chosen fields and feel empowered to pursue their individual aspirations.

Details of the specific careers programme for each year group can be found below:

In addition to the activities and events listed in these documents, it should also be noted that careers education is embedded into various other aspects of school life. This includes links to the world of work and the development of transferable skills within the academic curriculum, as well as an exciting and varied array of enrichment opportunities, such as after school activities and school trips.

Careers Programme

It is our belief that every student is entitled to high quality careers provision as part of their overall education. To that end, we are committed to delivering an inspiring, exciting and informative careers programme to all year groups.

The specific activities and events that comprise this programme are reviewed on an annual basis to ensure that they keep pace with the constantly evolving world of work. However, the learning outcomes that students can expect to achieve by the end of each Key Stage will remain consistent and are outlined in the table below:
