Application Process

How do I make an application?

The deadline to apply is 9am on Monday 19 January 2026.

We use ApplicaaOne to facilitate the process. Once you have completed and successfully submitted your application you will receive an email confirmation, if you do not receive this, please contact the sixth form.

Internal applicants: (Year 11 students at Waldegrave School) will be sent details on how to use their ApplicaaOne account by the school.

External applicants: Students will need to set up an account with ApplicaaOne. You will be asked to verify your email address. Once an account has been created, you will need to complete an application for Waldegrave Sixth Form on Applicaa.

Determined Admissions Information

Each year we are oversubscribed and expect to be so again. The following information may be of use when considering your application:

Waldegrave School Determined Admissions Arrangements 2026-27

How were places offered on GCSE results day

What Proof of Address do you Need?

External students need to supply proof of their address.  This needs to be in the student’s name, not a parent’s.  Acceptable proofs include bank statement, oyster card application letter, medical letter.

What happens after I have submitted an Application?

All applicants are given a Conditional Offer. Places are not guaranteed and all applicants are advised to make at least three applications to other A Level providers and not reject them until after you have successfully enroled at Waldegrave. We are heavily oversubscribed and cannot offer places on GCSE results day to all applicants who apply.

More enrolment information from previous years can be found on our Admissions page including distance of last successful enrolled applicant.

Conditional Offers will be made at the end of the Spring term.

When is your open evening?

For information about our Open Evening please click HERE.

What are the entry requirements?

Waldegrave is non-selective however there are national minimum GCSE grades required to study A Levels. On your application you will be asked for your predicted grades. These are used for guidance only as we recognise many applicants improve their grades between mock exams and public exams.   Applicants will be accepted onto courses following the results of the GCSEs received in August.

You will be asked to choose three subjects that you think you would like to study at A Level.  No firm decision needs to be made until Enrolment Day in August and confirmation of your place will depend on availability of courses on the day.

Post 16 Entrance Criteria

For more information on the subjects we offer please view Sixth Form Subjects webpage.

If you have not sat GCSEs or iGCSEs you will need to provide a Statement of Comparability and bring this to your enrolment interview.

What happens on Enrolment Day?

This will take place on the same day as GCSE results for current Waldegrave students and the following day for external applicants.  Towards the end of the Summer term 2025 you will receive an Enrolment Pack and the time of your appointment to attend on Enrolment Day.

You will be expected to attend your appointment so we strongly advise you attend your enrolment meeting and do not book holidays. We will not enrol virtually but you may send a representative in your place.

Your place in Sixth Form is not guaranteed and is only confirmed once your meeting has concluded, as such we recommend you make applications to several Sixth Forms and colleges and do not reject them until after you have successfully enrolled at Waldegrave Sixth Form.

Applicants will be given an appointment time to attend according to the Oversubscription Criteria of distance from home to Waldegrave.  Please read the Determined Admissions Arrangements document carefully.

Information on admissions data for the last three years can be viewed at Admissions Data.
