Waldegrave train with Black Ferns

On Sunday 27 September a small group of pupils took part in a training clinic with members of the Black Ferns, New Zealand Women’s International Rugby Team.

This fantastic morning session was a memorable experience for our students and their families to meet the Black Ferns rugby team. Grace E, Year 8 said it was “an amazing experience”. The session included time with some of the best players in the game, as they were coached in rugby activities which Grace found “incredibly inspiring”.

Aurelia W, Year 8 commented: “Meeting the Black Ferns was an amazing experience and it was helpful to learn how the team played. It was lots of fun and all of the stations were great.”

Pamela L, Year 9, also found the clinic inspiring and “…tons of fun, especially when we were playing the touch match at the end”.

The excitement on everyone’s faces was priceless as they had the chance to take photos, have items signed, and meet the players up close.

Emily H, Year 10 said: “It was super cool to meet some professional players, especially some of the best female players in the world. They were all lovely and it was loads of fun getting photos and signatures at the end!”

They also took home some special merchandise and souvenirs to remember the day. It was a truly unique experience that our students and families will treasure for years to come.

Delilah H, Year 8 added: “All of the team were so nice and I loved meeting them. It was so much fun, I wish I could do it all again!”

A very special thank you to the Black Ferns for creating such wonderful memories for our students and families!
