Snapshots of the Wild: Waldegrave Photography Competition

This term Waldegrave ran our second Wildlife Photography Competition, following the huge success of the inaugural photography challenge last year. Students from every year group were invited to step into the world of nature photography, with the aim of inspiring students to explore the natural world around them, develop new creative skills, and celebrate the beauty of local wildlife through the lens of a camera.

The standard of entries was high with many strong submissions. In the end the judging panel selected 20 photographs to be included in the Waldegrave Wildlife Calendar 2026. Very well done to:

  • Molly C, Maisy F, Annabelle H, Nicole W, Ruzgar C, Peony L and Poppy K from Year 7,
  • Maya F, Nika D, Matilda R, Sansia B and Valerie L from Year 8,
  • Elle J, Yovela H, Gabriella H and Selin Y from Year 9,
  • Mia L, Olivia D and Erica S from Year 10,
  • And finally, Leo S from Year 12.

Please see all winning images below. If you would like to purchase one of only 100 calendars printed, please order via ParentPay*.

To recognize their achievement, the winners will be treated to a special trip in the spring term to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition at the Natural History Museum. This world-renowned exhibition showcases some of the most exceptional wildlife photography from across the world, offering students the chance to see work from both amateur and professional photographers, hopefully inspiring them to take their photography further.

*Calendars will be available to collect from Hubs from Monday 1 December.
